Martha Elizabeth “Liz” Fields

1939 – 2018

Martha Elizabeth “Liz” Fields of Niceville, FL, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 25, 2018. Liz was born on July 25, 1939 in Crestview, FL, but raised in Portland, FL, to Ethel M. Garrett-Jones and Charles H. Jones. Liz graduated from Choctaw High School in 1957, then from Jones Business School in Orlando, FL. She worked in the banking industry for over 50 years. In addition, Liz spent much time travelling the United States, and the world, as an army wife with her husband and three children. On top of her family, Liz had a passion for gardening, and baking for family and friends. Liz could often be seen, and especially heard, passionately cheering for the Niceville Eagles football team. Liz proudly attended nearly every single game, even the road games, for over 30 years.

Liz is predeceased by her husband, Goebel Fields, her sister, Rickie Able, her brother, Eddie Jones, her mother, Ethel M. Garrett-Jones, her father, Charles H. Jones, and her son-in-law, Salvador A. Gomez, Sr.

Liz is survived by her three children, Mary Elizabeth Davis (Stuart Paul Davis, Sr.), Teresa Marie Gomez (Butch Flanders), and Lawrence G. Fields, Jr.; her sisters, Arnetta Spera and Lynn Stewart; her grandchildren, Stuart Paul Davis, Jr., William Fields Davis, Salvador A. Gomez, Jr., Caleb Knight, Chenoa Fields, and Skyler Fields; and her great-granddaughter, Ellie Lou Davis.

A visitation for Liz will be held on May 30, 2018 at 2 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at McLaughlin Mortuary in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, Liz requested that donations be made to the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (eccac.org).
