Laurence Maxwell Bailey. Age 84, of Valparaiso, Fla. Died surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, September 18, 2017. He was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey and settled in Valparaiso in 1966.
Larry was above anything in this world, a family man. He was a husband who cherished his wife of sixty-two years Joan Dye Bailey. He was an only child who loved and protected his five children: Jane C. Gamble, Craig A. Bailey, Patricia K. Donaldson (Kenny), Kenneth E. Bailey (Nina), and David S. Bailey. Pop Pop is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Megan Olynick (Shaun) and Evan Gamble; Sarah Geisler (Kenny) , Whitney Donaldson, and Nicholas Donaldson; Shannon Bailey, Aislinn Bailey, Tay, Karly, and Ally Tufenkjian. Pop Pop was adored by his great-granddaughter, Katelyn Olynick.
Second to his family, Larry was a hardworking man who loved his country and the Air Force. Upon his retirement from the military in 1973 he sold cars, sold real estate, and owned A to Z Rental in Ft. Walton Beach. He was an avid coin collector all his life and established his shop L.M. Bailey Rare Coins, in Valparaiso. He retired reluctantly from his beloved business three years ago. Larry treated everyone he met as the gentleman he was, and believed in making the well-considered, honorable choice. His words of wisdom and love will be remembered always.
