John Samuel Morter Jr.

June 10, 1982 ~ June 18, 2020 (age 38) 38 Years Old

Tribute

John Samuel Morter Jr., 38, of Niceville, died Thursday, June 18, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash.

John’s legacy will be the way he is remembered as a loving and caring person. He shared his positive attitude with his friends and co-workers, an extension of the love his family had for him. John never allowed an encounter to end without expressing his love, but his life showed his love, making his words an almost unnecessary act.

John was a loving son, brother, father, and grandpa who loved his children Gage, Eden and Ethan, and grandchild Axtyn.  He is also survived by his parents, J. Sam Morter and his wife Karen of Tampa, and Julie Yorks Morter of Niceville. Brothers Jeff and Jim, and sisters Stephanie, Samantha, and Sarah, also survive, along with nieces, nephews, and an extended list of cousins.

He is remembered as a tireless worker, most of his work life in the food and hospitality industry in Ohio, Louisiana, and Florida. Most recently, he had worked as a server with Lulu’s in Destin.

He loved being outdoors and fishing, and had a passion for his football teams. He wore his Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes love literally on his sleeve, and his chest, and his back.

His family will receive friends at Mclaughlin Mortuary in Fort Walton Beach, 12 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, and at Lulu’s, 4607 Legendary Marina Drive, Destin, beginning at 5 p.m.
