James “Jim” Thomas Peacock Jr., age 58, passed to his eternal home unexpectedly Friday, Sep. 10, 2021, in Destin, Florida. He was born to Shirley Ann & James Thomas Peacock, Sr. on Nov. 16, 1962, in North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley Ann Ganus & his maternal grandparents Neal Rowe & Dorothy Utley.
He is survived by his loving partner Tina Swanson, daughter Shirley Renee Peacock (Eddie Jones, Jr.), son Jason Derik Buckellew (Jessica Peterson), granddaughter LaSondra Ree, grandsons Xavien Kyrie, Caleb, & Jackson, stepdaughter Megan Ray, stepgrandsons Ian & Peyton, brother in law Thomas Swanson (Christine), stepfather Colin Ganus, brother Eric Ganus (Harriet), sisters Sherry Haijsman, Kelly Toole (Don), & Carrie Baccus (Rob), maternal aunts & uncle, numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Jim grew up in Pensacola, Florida & joined the Navy after graduation from Pensacola High School. After his military service, Jim settled in Destin upon returning to the area. Long known on the Harbor as “Peacock”, Jim worked as a cook in many local Destin restaurants. He had a great sense of humor & will be dearly missed by all his family & friends. A family memorial is planned in the Destin area at a later date.
