Georgia K. Bailey

Georgia K. Bailey, age 96, passed away peacefully at home September 20, 2019.  She is the daughter of John and Dollie Kiesler of Batesburg, South Carolina.  Upon high school graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and found a position in the War Department, which became the start of a 30 year career in Civil Service.  After working there several years she met the love of her life, Willard Bailey, who was in the Army-Air Force. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in March 1948.  In May 1953 their first daughter, Wanda Gail was born.  In September they were transferred to Alaska till 1955 when they were transferred to San Antonio, Texas.  In 1958 they welcomed their second daughter, Marlene Kristie.  In 1962 Willard retired from service and moved the family to Florida.  He and Georgia built their home, mortgage free, in Seminole Subdivision.  There they planted a large garden every year, sharing their bounty with friends and neighbors.  Evenings and weekends Georgia worked in the yard planting flowers, shrubs and tended to her strawberry patch.  After the death of her husband in 1976, she became involved in the Twin Cities Homemakers Club, Garden Clubs and the Senior Centers in Seminole and Valparaiso.  Anytime a trip was suggested, she could be packed and ready to go in a moments notice.  She was thrilled to be able to go to Spain and England before her traveling days were over.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willard and daughter Wanda Sasser, as well as her two brothers and two sisters.  She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Bailey, 5 grandchildren, Billy Flynn (Katie), Bobby Flynn (Michelle), Theresa Clements (Chester), Robyn Kurfuss (Danny), and Danielle Bailey, and 9 great grandchildren, Sydney, Colton, Alyssa, Regan, Riley, Juliana, Joseph, Tate and Micah.  She was blessed the last 17 years by her sweetheart, James Kelly. 

Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the former Northbay Baptist Church, Hwy 20 in Seminole Subdivision with Rev. John Sasser officiating.  Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso.
