MSgt (Ret)Francis Leon (Will) Willis of Niceville FL, passed away, at home on August 31, 2018, from complications of multiple health issues. He was born in St. Augustine, FL, to the late Edmund R and Lettie Pope Willis. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1954.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force retiring after 26 years of dedicated service. His military career included overseas service in Newfoundland, Labrador, Germany, Turkey and Vietnam, with stateside assignments in California, Alaska and Florida. During his military career he was awarded numerous medals for his exemplary service, most notably the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/valor, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Device and the Meritorious Service Medal. After military retirement he continued his service by choosing a second career with the civil service at Eglin AF Base.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Delcie McGraw Willis; son, David and wife Anette, and their sons, David (wife Robin), Joshua (wife Nikki), Sean-Michael (wife Cirissa) and Anthony. Eight great grandchildren; Jessica, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Brandon, Drew, Ava, Tyler and Morgan. Six brothers; Sonny, Carlton, Richard, Kenneth, Vernon and Ronny; two sisters, Juanita and Wanda.
He was a Baptist by faith and favored Base Chapel services. At his request no service is planned, so a private memorial service will be held at a later date and his ashes will be scattered at the site of his favorite fishing place.
