Dr. Jerry Lamar Reynolds, age 74, died at home with family on Monday, November 1, 2021. He was born on January 23, 1947 to Cecil and Autsy Mae Reynolds in Montgomery, Alabama.
He received a B.S. and a Masters in Counseling from Troy State University. He also received an Education Specialist degree from Florida State University and a Doctorate in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University. He taught at Fort Walton Beach High School from 1972 to 1980 and was an adjunct professor at St. Leo College, University of West Florida and Troy University in the counseling departments. He retired from the Okaloosa County school system as a school psychologist in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Klatka Reynolds, his sister, Betty Sue McGilberry (Joey), his daughter Janet O’Neal (Patrick) Suwanee, GA, stepchildren Lisa (Jeff) Kleiber, Barbara Uttaro and Michael Uttaro.
He was grandfather to Harrison and Kirkland O’Neal, Paul, Ethan and Matthew Kleiber, Molly and Michael Burks and Alex Uttaro.
The family is thankful for the compassionate care that was provided by Michelle Dandridge, Vivian Howard and Covenant Care Hospice.
A gathering will take place on Sunday, November 21, 2021, 4pm, at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar on the Destin Harbor to celebrate his life.
