Cora Colleen Smith, age 91, formerly of Crestview, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26 in the home of her son and his wife in the mountains of North Carolina. Colleen Smith was born on April 11, 1931, in Millerville, Alabama to parents, James and Lois King. She lived in Crestview for more than 60 years and owned and helped her husband, Perry Smith, in operating The Crestview Apothecary. Colleen will be best remembered for her sweet and gentle nature and her innate Southern hospitality. Her greatest love in life was her family, as well as gardening, flowers, and antiquing with her siblings. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Smith, her daughter, Kay Smith Taylor, her son, Scott Smith, two of her sisters, Gayle Brooks and Charlotte Campbell, her brother, Donny King, and her grandson, Jake Taylor. Survivors include her son, Rodney Smith of North Carolina, her sister, Carolyn Reading of Pensacola, granddaughters, Jessica Autry and Kelli Patterson, as well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 in Niceville at the Mclaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home. Services for the immediate family only will follow at 2:00 with Al Stearns officiating her Celebration of Life. Burial will take place at Live Oak Memorial Park in Crestview.
