Marlene Dail Brinson, age 94, resident of Niceville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Marlene was born on October 1 1929, in Mt. Olive, North Carolina, to Dixon and Macy Dail, and she grew up with four beautiful sisters: Mary, Dorothy, Inez, and Blanche. She married her first husband, Alonza Brinson, when she was just 18, and they moved to Niceville, Florida in 1959, when their sons were young. They raised their family in Niceville, with frequent trips "home" to visit family in North Carolina. Marlene lost her first husband to cancer in 1983, but in her later life she was blessed to spend many wonderful years with Albert Sellers. She was a homemaker, and she excelled at every she did, from sewing clothes for her growing family to cleaning house, to making the perfect fruitcake. One of her favorite things to do was work in her yard, and she always had a project out there to work on. She was deeply concerned about the direction of the nation in these last years and spent many of her hours in prayer for America.
She is preceded in death by Alonza D. Brinson, Jr., (Granddaddy); Albert Sellers; her sisters Mary Bland, Dorothy Huff, Inez Kerr, and Blanche Ipock; and her sister in Christ, Lessie Robertson.
She is survived by her three sons: Aaron (Vida) of Freeport, Florida, Gregory of Slidell, Louisiana, and Philip (Victoria) of Muldrow, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Tiffianie (Bart) Millar, Adam (Lela) Brinson, Michael (Michelle) Brinson, Amy Rasz, and Melanie (Chris) Taulbee; her step-daughter Donna (Phil) Welch, and step-son Ricky (Pat) Sellers; step-grandchildren Shannon Sellers, Cara Walker, Kelly Wilson, Bennett Welch, and Kacie Welch; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, 1405 E. John Sims Parkway, Niceville, Florida, with Rev. Carolynne den Hartog officiating.
The family will greet friends prior to the time of the service.
Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery, Valparaiso, Florida.
