Obituary for Beatrice Vonceil Blackwell

BEATRICE VONCEIL VINSON BLACKWELL
March 26, 1922 - February 21, 2010

Beatrice Vonceil Vinson Blackwell, 87, of Niceville, went to meet her Heavenly Father February 21, 2010 at Superior Residences in Niceville. A Walker County Alabama native, she was the daughter of the late Premon and Lois Vinson and the granddaughter of Civil War Veteran Granberry Vinson. Predeceasing her were brothers Ollie and Cecil Vinson, and sisters Ruby Vinson and Pauline Vinson Skinner.

Miss Vonnie was a member of Niceville First Baptist Church, a long time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority, Niceville Garden Club in it’s early years, and a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class of Niceville First Baptist. She was known for her abilities in painting, poetry, skills in floral design, clothing and interior decorating and was the first female automobile inspector in the State of Florida.

Surviving are husband, Cecil H. Blackwell, daughters, Joy Love (Robert) and Martha Lingerfelt of Oneonta, Alabama, son, Hal (Lee) Blackwell of Satellite Beach, FL, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.

The family appreciates so much the professionalism, kindness, dedication and loving care given by the wonderful staffs at Alterra Sterling House in Niceville, Silvercrest Rehab of Crestview, Twin Cities Hospital, and Superior Residences of Niceville. Special thanks to Dr. Wendall Blankenship and his staff for their care and friendship over the years, and Covenant Hospice and special angels Edie and Debbie.

Celebration services will be held at Niceville First Baptist Church, Bayshore Drive, with visitation Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 10:00 -11:00 a.m., and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, in Valparaiso, FL. Officiating will be Dr. Mike McGough and Reverend Chuck Hartness. Pallbearers will be members of the Word of Life Sunday School Class with Gene Wright and Calvin Clark assisting and Honorary Pallbearers will be the ladies of the Lydia Sunday School Class.

Twin Cities Cremation Service and Funeral Home, 1405 John Sims Parkway E, Niceville, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
